Mojisola – Wake Up to the Wealth Around You

African Diaspora Film Festival in New York

November 25, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Until Dec 9th 2007 there will be an African Diaspora film festival going on.  Films and documentaries from Cape Verde, Chad, Ghana many other African nations as well as European and American films and collaborations are showing.  There are North African and Aborigine films and documentaries as well, for those who are interested.  Other themes include violence and children either in urban settings, cultural inequality or war.  There is also a smattering of thrillers.  Always on the list are films concerning identity. Of interest is a film called Ezra about child soldiers in Sierra Leone.  Another film called The Silent Fall about an AIDS doctor who gets caught up in big Pharma intrigue looks interesting. My only wish is that they would show these films in the countries where the inspiration for these films and documentaries took place.  It’s always sad if the dialogue that films induce never includes the people who the subject matter is about. In any case, here are two trailers for Ezra and The Silent Fall to wet your appetite
